Improving the Education Standard of Coloradan Children
What’s the problem?
By 5th grade, barely 50% of Coloradan students meet academic standards.
Rural communities are low on teachers.
Colorado’s chronic absenteeism rate is now over 28%.
Minority communities are more at risk, as 37% of Latino students are chronically absent.
For 15 years, Colorado’s schools have been falling short of their budgeting needs and as of 2026, still require an additional $3 billion to meet educational needs.
1 out of 8 children in Colorado face insecurity even when provided with meals at school.
In 2025, over 60% of students did not meet mathematical standards.
What can we do?
Establish school grants to provide additional funding based on increased performance.
Hire statewide tutors to assist students to assist teacher’s workload.
Free summer courses for students struggling to meet grade expectations.
Increase teacher salaries by 15% and support teachers’ unions.
Provide incentives for rural teachers along with relocation assistance.
Require schools to publish administrative costs per student.
Allow for limited electoral credits to be supplemented or replaced with actual employment.
Propose a vote to tax income at 0.6% on earnings above $200,000 to begin to close the gap on educational needs.
Match districts with local farmers to create deals for students in food insecure households to learn skills after school and bring food home to their families.
