The country’s political division is focused on federal issues that affect the federal government. It’s so easy to hate people from a different state whose political culture is different from your own. However, it’s much harder to hate those in your community. The people who send their children to the same school as your children, the police officers regularly patrolling the roads, the nurses at the local hospital who work tirelessly assisting physicians to save lives, or even the local produce worker at your community grocery store, these are the people we share our lives with.

If we can get Colorado to work towards stronger communities, then we can work to unite Colorado’s counties. And if we can unite Colorado, we can spread this model to the rest of the nation which in time will heal the partisan divide.
